"The Palestinian prisoner solidarity network Samidoun, founded in 2011 by PFLP members abroad, advocates for the release of prisoners often linked to terrorism. Samidoun aligns ideologically with the PFLP, rejects Israel’s right to exist, and supports violence. It also propagandistically backs terrorist groups like PFLP, HAMAS, and DHKP-C.
As of November 2, 2023, Samidoun’s activity is banned in Germany. Its German branches, especially active in Berlin and North Rhine-Westphalia, were dissolved. Samidoun used protests and online platforms for propaganda, recruitment, and fundraising. After HAMAS’s October 7, 2023 attack, which it celebrated as “resistance,” Samidoun escalated its actions. Despite the ban, former members remain active in the extremist pro-Palestinian scene.
Secular pro-Palestinian extremist groups in Germany often spread antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric and support the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement. BDS calls for a total economic and political boycott of Israel and is linked to HAMAS, PIJ, and PFLP.
Since October 7, 2023, BDS-linked groups have intensified anti-Israel protests and boycott calls. Some, like BDS-Berlin, BDS-Bonn, and Jewish Voice for a Just Peace in the Middle East (Jüdische Stimme), are now officially classified as extremist.
Some actors publicly support a two-state solution while directly or indirectly endorsing terrorism by HAMAS, PIJ, and PFLP, and describing the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack as legitimate “resistance.” This includes the group “Palästina Spricht,” founded in Berlin after the German Bundestag’s 2019 resolution against BDS. Its supporters reject Israel’s right to exist and defended the October 7 attack.
In addition, individuals in Germany who are not formally linked to extremist organizations still spread antisemitic and anti-Israel hate speech, often via social media, contributing to growing radicalization and violence. Some have threatened or committed acts of violence in Germany in connection to events in Gaza.
In July 2024, after an arson attack on Gymnasium Tiergarten in Berlin, perpetrators left slogans like:
“Burn Gaza, Burn Berlin,”
“Stop police violence,”
“Students have the right to protest,”
“Warning to the press,”
“Warning to Berlin.”
The slogan “Burn Gaza, Burn Berlin” has since appeared frequently on Berlin walls, sometimes in English.
Even without formal group membership, this extremist scene shows high mobilization potential in Germany."
