The Blue Square 🟦 has become a powerful international symbol of support for the Jewish community and the fight against antisemitism, as well as against all forms of hate in recent years.

Origin and Meaning of the Symbol
The Blue Square was chosen as a simple and accessible symbol—an emoji available on every smartphone. The core idea is visual: the square occupies about 2.4% of the screen area, mirroring the proportion of Jews in the U.S. population (around 2%). Yet, according to 2024 FBI data, Jews were victims of 69% of all religion-based hate crimes - a record high with 1,938 reported incidents, up 5.8% from 2023, despite comprising only about 2% of Americans. The campaign emphasizes that antisemitism is not just a Jewish issue but a societal one. "Hate knows no boundaries. if we don’t stand up, it spreads," is the central message.
Launch and Spread
The campaign launched with a $25 million investment, first appearing in Times Square and on NBC shows like The Voice, The Kelly Clarkson Show, and TODAY. It reached billions of impressions, including ads during NFL, NBA, and NHL games. #StandUpToJewishHate with The Voice, in partnership with The Foundation to Combat Antisemitism In 2025, a new campaign called "When There Are No Words" launched with an additional $10 million investment, airing during football games and encouraging sharing the square as a quiet sign of support when words fail against hate. Celebrities such as Tom Brady, Julianne Moore, Meek Mill, and Jon Bon Jovi supported the campaign, wearing Blue Square pins.
