BDS and cancelling Zionism: Historical gaslighting

Seriously, do we still need to explain this in 2026? In a world where every piece of history is accessible at the touch of a button, it seems the campaign against Israel led by the Boycott movement (BDS) succeeds in only one mission: engineering consciousness based on absolute ignorance. This isn't politics; it's a project to erase history designed to distort reality and turn the word "Zionist" into a synonym for something evil. We are talking about gaslighting on a state level, an attempt to cancel the proven connection between the people of Israel and their land and to invent an alternative narrative out of thin air.

What is the story with Noah Schnapp? The guy from "Stranger Things." He dared to say he is a proud Zionist. What audacity. Imagine, a young Jewish guy feeling pride that his people have a country that he loves. The response was cyber terrorism and threats of cancellation. Seriously? This is liberal bullying, allegedly, in its finest form. Those who call themselves "progressive" apply bullying pressure to silence any voice that does not align with the false narrative. This is not discourse; it is silencing. The expectation of Jews is to apologize for their very existence and for their right to self-determination.

Erasing history in favor of a fictitious narrative

The strategy of the BDS is not particularly sophisticated, but it is effective for those who find it convenient to believe lies. It is based on extreme oversimplification. Take a complex reality thousands of years old, cancel any archaeological finding indicating a Jewish presence, ignore historical and religious texts thousands of years old, and invent a story of "occupier" versus "occupied" that does not hold water under the scrutiny of facts.

The essential connection between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel is a solid historical fact, not a 20th century Zionist invention. Severing this connection is historical denial of the worst kind. The Zionist movement is the national liberation movement of the Jewish people, their attempt to return to their historical homeland. Portraying this as a foreign colonialist enterprise is simply embarrassing ignorance. But who cares about facts when there are viral posts on Instagram.

Cultural blacklists and the light at the end

Hypocrisy celebrates when looking at the cultural boycott. There are sites and groups whose entire purpose is to track artists, musicians, writers, and actors who dare to be Zionists or perform in Israel. This is a modern blacklist. This obsession with Israel is pathological. While the world grapples with murderous dictatorships and horrific oppression in China or Iran, the greatest threat to world peace according to the extreme left is a band performing in Tel Aviv. Yeah right.

This boycott is collective gaslighting. It is not intended to help the Palestinians but to isolate Israel. We are told that we are imagining the threats, that Hamas is just a legitimate "resistance movement." It goes without saying that criticism of government policy is legitimate and even necessary in the only democracy in the Middle East, but the BDS does not criticize, it seeks to cancel the very legitimacy of the state.

But there are also points of light. It is amazing to see non Jews, people with a moral compass, who do not succumb to bullying and recognize Israel's right to exist and are capable of condemning the horrific acts of Hamas on October 7 without adding a shameful "but." They understand that supporting Israel does not mean opposing Palestinians but supporting the truth.

History is not clay in the hands of activists on Twitter. Zionism is a historical fact and Israel is an existing reality. The boycott, the bullying, and the cancellation will not change this truth. With that, you will have to deal.
