Cracking the Erdogan Riddle: What Is He Hiding? Everything Revealed, Line by Line

By: Ofer Binstok

For the first time ever, Erdogan’s scattered puzzle pieces are assembled into one clear picture. Speech by speech, year by year: this cracks the code he works so hard to hide from the world.

He speaks with cautious language, avoiding the word "caliphate." But when the pieces are joined, the image is sharp and clear: Erdogan is driving toward a global Islamic caliphate where the Quran and the Sunnah of Muhammad are hakim (sovereign) over the entire world. He follows the classical Islamic path: preaching, unity of the Islamic Ummah, and armed conquest (fath) when required."

He barely hides it. In his 2020 speech on converting Hagia Sophia into a mosque, he hailed the move as a "Blessed Conquest" (Fath Mubarak) and prayed: "May Allah grant us many more such conquests."

This analysis is not interpretation: it is a precise reconstruction of his own words, citing the Quranic verses and Hadiths that ground his ideology. This exposes his true secret: a systematic ambition to conquer the world and impose absolute Islamic rule.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan dictates a vision where the Quran and the Sunnah of Muhammad serve as the exclusive path for Muslims (based on Hadith al-Thaqalayn). He demands that the Islamic Ummah, with Turkey at the helm, establish a global Islamic civilization to achieve worldwide dominance. This is a modern Islamic caliphate realized through the classical methodology of the Quran and Sunnah: a combination of preaching, unity of the Islamic Ummah, and armed fath (conquest) when necessary. This aligns with the "Victory of the Religion over all Religions" (Quran 9:33, 48:28, 61:9) and the verses of mandatory war (2:216), the sword against non-Muslims (9:5), and jihad against non-Muslims and hypocrites (9:73, 9:123).

During the International Holy Quran Recitation Competition on April 6, 2024, Erdogan declared that core moral teachings: earning through honest labor, caring for neighbors, and assisting the sick: derive directly from these sources. He quoted Muhammad: “I am leaving you two things. As long as you hold fast to them, you will never go astray. These are the Book of Allah and the Sunnah. This is the path” (Hadith al-Thaqalayn, Musnad Ahmad 4/366, Sunan al-Tirmidhi 3786). He followed with a prayer: “My Lord, do not separate us from the path of the Quran and the noble Sunnah” (Inspired by 'The Straight Path', Quran 1:6-7, and the command to adhere to the Quran and Sunnah, Quran 4:59).

Erdogan transforms this foundation into a global mandate. At the Civilizations Council on October 21, 2017, he asked: “If the measures of Islam: calling to good, enjoining the moral, and forbidding the evil: were hakim in the world today, would the crises we experience have arisen?” (Directly from 'Enjoining the good and forbidding the evil', Quran 3:104, 3:110, 9:71). He answered with a firm "No" and stated that Islamic civilization is the only power capable of maintaining a humane world line. This power rests solely on the Quran and Sunnah. He concluded: “Rebuilding the civilization of Islam is in our hands. Do not wait for anyone else to do it. We will do it. This is the duty of the Islamic Ummah” (Based on the duty of Muslims to spread the religion and establish justice, Quran 2:193, 9:33).

Erdogan frames this vision as an active duty for every Muslim. At the 2019 summit for ideological leaders, he stated that every believer must struggle under the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah to ensure Islamic truth dominates the world (Inspired by verses of Jihad and struggle in the way of Allah 2:216, 9:5, 9:73, 9:123, and Hadiths on Mujahadah as a constant duty). He added that artificial borders cannot limit their horizon: signaling a global effort that transcends national lines (Following the command of the unity of the Ummah without borders, Quran 49:10, 3:103).

While Erdogan avoids the word “caliphate” to bypass Turkey’s secular framework and conceal his agenda from the world, his public statements reveal a clear strategy. He presents the Quran and Sunnah as the sole infallible guides (Quran 4:59, 5:48) and demands that Islamic civilization become hakim (sovereign) across the globe (Quran 9:33, 48:28). He assigns every Muslim the obligation to wage this struggle and cites the example of Muhammad, where spreading justice included both dawah and military fath (Hadiths on "Fath" and the expansion of Islam, Sahih al-Bukhari 25: “I have been commanded to fight people until they say 'There is no god but Allah'”; Hadith “I have been made victorious with terror” Sahih al-Bukhari 2977, and the mission of the messenger, Quran 61:9). Erdogan insists: “Islam is Islam” (Quran 3:19: “Indeed, the religion in the sight of Allah is Islam”). This is a consistent call for Islamic civilizational supremacy through the traditional methodology of the Quran and Sunnah: including the sword of conquest (fath) when circumstances demand it (Quran 9:5, 9:29, 9:73, 9:123, Bukhari 25 and similar texts on fighting until only Islam exists).

Supporting Scripture and Hadith
Quran 2:216 (Al-Baqarah): "Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not."
Quran 9:5 (Al-Tawbah): "And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the Mushrikun (non-Muslims) wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakat, let them go on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."
Quran 9:73 (Al-Tawbah): "O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers (non-Muslims) and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination."
Quran 9:123 (Al-Tawbah): "O you who have believed, fight those of the disbelievers (non-Muslims) who are near to you and let them find in you harshness. And know that Allah is with the righteous." Sahih al-Bukhari 25: "I have been commanded to fight against people (non-Muslims) so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and establish the prayer and pay the zakat. If they do that, their blood and property are guaranteed protection on my behalf except when justified by Islamic law, and their affairs rest with Allah."

Quran 3:110 (Al-Imran): "You are the best nation produced for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah." Hadith explaining 3:110
(Sahih al-Bukhari 4557): "The verse 'You are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind' means: You are the best for mankind, as you bring them (non-Muslims) with chains on their necks till they embrace Islam." Bottom Line: What Erdogan Is Hiding "Hold fast to the Quran and the Sunnah... this is the path" (Hadith al-Thaqalayn) → "If the measures of Islam were hakim (sovereign) in the world today, the crises would not arise"
(Quran 3:104) → "Islamic civilization is the only power capable of maintaining a humane line in the world... Rebuilding it is in our hands... We will do it. This is the duty of the Islamic Ummah"
(Quran 9:33) → "Every believer must struggle under the guidance of the Quran and Sunnah so that justice, truth, peace, and tranquility prevail on the earth... artificial borders cannot limit our horizon"
(Quran 2:216, 9:5, 9:73, 9:123 + Bukhari 25) → "You are the best nation produced for mankind... you enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong"
(Quran 3:110 + Bukhari 4557: "You bring them with chains on their necks till they embrace Islam").
Erdogan's strategic goal is clear: to systematically conquer the world and impose absolute Islamic rule through the classical method of the Quran and Sunnah. This includes armed conquest (fath) whenever circumstances demand it (Quran 9:5 + Bukhari 25).
